Comparing a UAE offer with a Saudi offer is not comparing two headline salaries. The packages differ in what is included, what is paid by the employer, and what you will spend yourself. This calculator keeps the two sides separate: for each country you enter your basic salary, fixed allowances, housing, transport, school / education, and other benefits exactly as offered, plus your own monthly living costs. It then computes monthly net, annual net, and disposable income after living costs. It does not insert invented Dubai or Riyadh rents, school fees, or living costs — those vary too much to pre-fill honestly.

Two verified facts are built in. First, neither country levies personal income tax on employment salary (PwC Tax Summaries) — but your home country may still tax worldwide income, so this is host-country only. Second, employee social contributions differ: in the UAE, expatriates pay no GPSSA pension, but they do pay mandatory ILOE unemployment insurance (AED 5/month + VAT if basic ≤ AED 16,000, AED 10/month + VAT if basic > AED 16,000). In Saudi Arabia, expatriate employees pay 0% GOSI; the employer pays 2% occupational hazard. Housing and transport have no fixed statutory amounts: in the UAE there is no general housing-allowance statute, and in Saudi Arabia the employer must provide or pay housing and transport since the February 2025 amendments, but the “appropriate” amount is contract-dependent — so both are user-entered. VAT (UAE 5%, Saudi 15%) is a consumption tax, not a payroll deduction, so it is not subtracted from salary. End-of-service is shown separately on the gratuity pages; this page compares cash in hand.

Your numbers

UAE offer (AED / month)

Saudi offer (SAR / month)

Formulas: Monthly gross = basic + fixed allowances + housing + transport + school. UAE net = gross − ILOE (AED 5 + VAT if basic ≤ 16,000, else AED 10 + VAT; VAT at 5% → 5.25 / 10.50). Saudi net = gross − 0 (expat GOSI employee 0%). Disposable = net − your living costs. Difference = UAE disposable − Saudi disposable in AED.

How to use the result

  • Enter each benefit exactly as offered — do not assume housing or school is included if it is not in the offer.
  • Enter your own living costs for each city. This calculator does not invent them.
  • Compare disposable, not headline salary — and check end-of-service separately, because the UAE and Saudi formulas differ.

Frequently asked questions

Is there income tax on salary in the UAE or Saudi Arabia?

No personal income tax on employment salary in either host country. Your home country may still tax worldwide income.

Why is only ILOE deducted for the UAE?

Because expatriates pay no GPSSA pension, and ILOE unemployment insurance is the employee-paid mandatory item (AED 5 or 10 per month plus VAT). Saudi expatriate employees pay 0% GOSI.

Does this include end-of-service?

No. End-of-service is a separate lump sum with different formulas in each country — see the UAE gratuity and Saudi EOSB calculators. This page compares monthly cash in hand.
